What Licences are used in the Publish and Read Program?

Institutions that have a Publish and Read package are offered:

  • Unlimited OA: any article published in Society journals where the corresponding author is from a Publish and Read institution will be OA by default.
  • Unlimited usage: any user associated with a Publish and Read institution can access the entire archive of Society content, back to 1947, for reading and for text and data mining.
  • Uncapped Publishing: users also enjoy uncapped publishing with the society.

This means that researchers, once signed up to Publish and Read, may immediately publish Open Access with no fees in our journals.

What are the ethical practices?

The Microbiology Society holds itself to the highest level of ethical conduct. Please see here for the full details: https://www.microbiologyresearch.org/ethics-policies

How does peer review work at the Microbiology Society?

Our unsung heroes are our peer reviewers. All of our five journals employ a single-blind peer review process, meaning the reviewers will know the identity of the authors, but the authors will not know the identity of the reviewers. All research published in Society journals received two full peer review reports. As an open research platform, Access Microbiology operates a transparent peer review process, meaning the reviewers know the identity of the authors, and the authors may know the identity of the reviewers if they choose to sign their name to their review.
